My dear TJ indulged my every whim, as usual. I wanted to write haikus.
5, 7, 5.
Here’s TJ’s:
Delicate seed pods
Horny stalks, icy root gobs.
Oh, my achin’ back.
And here’s what came trippin’ off my less poetic fingers:
Truck on the highway
Who’s that dumb chick in the road?
We all have to die.
All day we watched Em
Practice her new big girl tricks
When can she show you?
The best is this one:
She laughs mightily now, stops,
then laughs a bit more
How lucky are we
To have such a creature here
With us forever?!
It’s not lost on me
(I forgot to make this clear)
That it’s all fleeting
Though I’d like it if
She remained this way always,
There’s much more to watch
I can’t wait to see
The next phase, then what’s after
Who will she become?
Right now though she rests
Snoring, startling awake,
Sighing back asleep
Thank you, thank you.
Wow, Yo-Nenny: Whole poems make up of haiku. I like them lots, and they make me miss Ember Virginia even more. You’re coming to visit on Saturday morning, right?
Your beautiful poems
Warm the cockles of my heart
And so do ‘Leni’s.
I wish I were a
tiny sparrow, hidden in
pine bough and repose
I have two daughters.
One is green, the other pink.
Law’, how I love them.
My granddaughter, too—
With raven hair and blue eyes—
Ain’t she just da bomb.
