Transportation & Communication

As of late last night, this prodigal daughter had returned. She is so tired, her eyes keep closing, which has a severe effect on tpographicy. See what I mean?

I hope to write some highlights of my final days in SE Asia, but for now this is all you get:

  • A slideshow of my student Charlogne’s photos of the uniquely laden motorbikes that whip through Saigon. For the soundtrack, I used something I recorded at the water puppet performance. It doesn’t fit with the photos, but get over it.

  • An abridged version of an e-mail I got yesterday from a student.

Dear Mrs Ginna,

I am writing in connection with your letter to me this morning. This morning I just received your letter. I was really surprised at that. This is the first time in my life when finishing a course, I get a letter from my teacher. From the bottom of my heart. You are one of the greatest foreigner professors that I have ever studied with. You are very nice, gentle, polite and caring. Best of all, you are very friendly and open-minded. I just don’t know how to express my thoughts about you. But just one thing to say, you are a super great teacher. WHEN READING YOUR LETTER TO ME, I FEEL REALLY GREAT ABOUT THAT. And TRULY THANKS for your comments, they are so true about me. Thanks you to your pointing out my weaknesses, I can now know more about them, and that I can learn and improve from them. It’s really nice of you to do that.

In your class, I studied a lot of new things and great theory, also useful practices and fun as well. Even the way you put questions and give answers is very nice and clear, very professional. We all miss you a lot Mrs Ginna. So, it’s a big pity that I could not attend all of your classes. I am really sorry about that, it was just one of those things, I got a serious fever after hanging out playing volleyball with Alice on Friday afternoon, then it took me five days to get it over with, which means that I missed three classes… So, I missed your classes. I missed your classes meaning that I missed a lot of valuable lessons and great chances to practice my listening and speaking skill with a perfect foreigner. So, please forgive and understand for me Mrs Ginna. It was just one of those things.

I am looking forwards to hearing from you. I wish you a nice day, a nice life.

Nguyen D. Tuan
