My Very First Blog Entry

I’m still confused about why people do blogs. Unless I were famous, or otherwise sought-after as a purveyor of wisdom pearls, I can’t think of a single reason someone would stop by here. Well, there’s one. As I told Richard, if I had friends — a big “if” — I can imagine them coming here to see what I’m up to.

The one thing blogs do well is make it easy to present information chronologically. In my attempt to understand bloggery, I’ll mess with that idea. First, I’ll think about something in my life in which chronology is important (other than my rapid aging). Then I’ll imagine I have friends to tell about it.

Okay, so here’s an idea. I’m having an addition put on my house for seismic-safety reasons. How about, for my first experiment, I show you what’s up with that? Go to the first post, “A Room with No View.”

  1. the guardian of the blog didn’t ask me for a password, guess it thought I was Richard. I theenk your blog is very, very interesting and ambitious of you to do it. I always swell with pride at your accomplishments, hoping some glory will rub off on me for being in the virtual vicinity. Your new room will be FABULOUS!

  2. When I reflect on the old days, back to November 4 when I made my first entry here, I have to chuckle at my naí¯vetí©. “If I had friends … ” I wrote. I imagine my dedicated readers awash in tears of sympathy.

Well, pity no more. I do have friends, and not just one or two, either. I have three. Look up there and count them. Dig around and you?ll find a fourth.

Plus, I have proof that there are 205 other people who like me╉really like me ╉calling me ?pleasant,? ?polite,? ?easy to deal with,? ?cheetah-fast? and ?an asset to eBay.?

  3. Addition? Are you crazy? Have you cleared this with Jesse or your resident geologist? Looking forward to reading on!
