Día de Descansar

All last night the wind sounded like canon blasts. It was dramatic if not soporific. At 7:00 a.m. sharp the revival began anew, possibly with even more enthusiasm than last night. I gave up on sleep and padded barefoot down the stone stairs for coffee. On my way, I smiled at a piece of black plastic that I thought was a cat.

After last night’s scorpion-check I’m a little jumpy, so when Maria pointed at the wall this morning and said, “Oh, look!” I leapt back. But she was just showing me an electrical outlet.

She has strictly forbidden me to do anything today except relax. It is difficult. I took a little walk around the village and down to the shore, where I learned yet another traveler’s lesson:

  • Don’t hike with your only pair of reading glasses, or
  • Always bring an extra pair of glasses, or
  • Don’t become middle-aged.

I have nothing to say. Here are photos of Jaibalito and environs.

  1. Hi Ginna,
Your trip sounds so interesting. You sound like you are enjoying yourself. Ah but those damn spiders !!
In regards to Anna Banana’s health: I had the lymph node removed then (after much waiting) I found out that 4 of the cultures came out clear. Yippee ! But now that area has swollen to the size of a golf ball and growing. Curse the week-ends I have not been able to contact my doctor. For the last 2 nights, I have had these dreams of giving birth. So that is what is happening with me.
It has been raining for weeks and we are still looking at another week of rain. Everyone’s mood is getting lower on the mental health scale. You are in a good location, I believe weather wise having exciting weather…
I look forward to our visit. I saw you so much and then you went far far away.
    Your BLOG is super.
Keep having a good time and I look forward to your arrival in the USA.
    Hugs Anna

  2. It is raining every day now. I recommend staying away from here at least another week, maybe more. William Wetwinkle Sr.

  3. I love the audio pieces, especially the ones with motors in them. motors. This all looks like a wonderful place. Can you swim in the lake or will things eat you? Millions of species of insects coming up? That is too much to contemplate. I have been electrocuting flies with the fly electrocution device for two days now. They are still coming out of the ceiling and I do not feel in the least bit sorry for them. I watched as one got caught in the wires of my worthy electrical zapper and he smoldered away to nothing. This caused the room to smell like a burned toenail – whoops, there goes another one. Zzzzzzztzztzztzztzz…poof! So it goes here in my warm and small room. Whew! Burned toenails. Open the door! Look out for those insects in Costa Rica, Gin. And drunk pentacostal, coastal?, tuctuc drivers. Gracious sakes. Onward! MB
